Product Reviews > Broadband
I have been a Fastcom customer in 2008 in the Sligo Town area.I had a excellent experience as a customer.
Initially there were minor issues but once highlighted, the issues were fixed very quickly.
If you where to search around the internet especially www.boards.ie. You would get a negitive impression of this company.
Unfortunaity people who are happy with a service usually do not comment on the service they just use it.
Main points:
ONE
Fast Installation
The reason I became a customer with fastcom was I signed up for the eircom phoneline in my rented house.
When i told eircom I just wanted broadband, they said you must pay the line connection cost (120 euro) but we can not gaurentee your line is good enough for broadband. So I reluctantly said OK .
One month after I requested my line to be connected, no sign of eircom.
So I canceled the installation.
So walked into fastcom explained them the situation.
I signed the fastcom contrat on a monday, I have broadband by that Thursdays (3 days).
TWO
Face to face sales and technical support
If I had a tech support issue the Office was located on Stephen street, I could walk in and talk directly to the tech support person and get the issue resolved.
I liked the fact it was face to face in contrast to other providers who have there sales and technical support located in Dublin or overseas.
THREE
Internet connection
I have to say I had minor issues with blueface (voip) over fastcom which resulted in distorded phonecalls.
Two years on, I see they are reselling blueface service with there broadband as a package so I presume they have resolved there Voip priority(internet calls get priorty over youtube and other web application).
They provide unlimited broadband so for people who like to download the latest "Linux ISO disc" off bittorrent. It would be a good choice .
There internet connection are uniquely synchronous, the upload and download are the same speed, this is very good if you uploading lots of files.
FOUR
Supporting local Business
This company has invested millions with the help of the government into broadband in the Northwest. Local people, local service.
FIVE
Coverage
The whole of Sligo town is covered.
They provide broadband to places where eircom dont:
Achill island, South Sligo, North Sligo, South Donegal, Leitrim.
Good for farmers in North Leitrim.
